The potato chip factory in a town in Soria that was born in a year of poor harvests: "It was a quick and resounding success."
Emilio Zamora and Pilar García, a couple from the municipality, were farmers who planted and harvested wheat, barley, and potatoes every year. One year, 26 years ago, the price of potatoes was very low, and selling them wasn't profitable. "They fried potatoes at home, and people kept telling them they were delicious because they were potatoes that fried very well due to their characteristics. So they said, 'Why don't we make chips to sell?' They started like that and became a resounding and rapid success," says Francisco Pérez Ayuso.
